Parade of Nations

Schull & District Community Council have jumped on-board with the ISAF (International Sailing Federation). The World Team Racing Championships are being held in Schull from August  27th – September 4th.  This is ‘A World Event in a Village Community’ and a magnificent opportunity to showcase our fantastic location and more importantly the people that make Schull so attractive and colorful.

Schull & District Community Council  will  host a parade of nations through the village on Sunday Aug.29th @ 5.00pm and  in conjunction with this Schull & District Community Council have asked that all the businesses’ in the village adopt a country  and accordingly, adapt some aspect of the business be it shop front/window  or menu in recognition of the adopted nation. To date there are 8 nations registered to take part –  Australia, Japan, Italy, Ireland, Thailand, Spain, U.K & U.SA and most countries will have a number of teams in the event.

Before the madness of the summer begins and to give people plenty of time to get their ” thinking Caps” on & as a means of distributing teams and nations to individual businesses, Schull & District Comm. Council  intend holding a draw in O’Regans Bar on Thurs. evening 16th.June, 8pm. If possible, a representative from each business should attend the draw and support this community effort. Everyone is welcome to attend.
